Gibson County Animal Services   Volunteers are key to the success of Gibson County Animal Services.  Thanks to the countless hours donated by the many hard-working community members, our shelter has progressed greatly from its humble beginnings.

Volunteers assist our full-time staff in their daily activities, as well as provide love and attention for our homeless animals.  We offer several ways for interested persons to get involved at our shelter.

Ways to Volunteer

Volunteers perform a wide variety of tasks at the shelter.  Some of these include:

  • Bathing animals
  • Walking dogs
  • Manning festival booths
  • Take animals to local nursing homes
  • Teaching shelter dogs to walk on a leash
  • Answer phones for Spay Day
  • Choose a "Project Pet" and help it find a home
  • Be a foster home for recuperating animals
  • Write articles for monthly newsletters
  • Make posters for special events
  • Performing minor repairs around the shelter
  • Animal transporters

  How to Become A Volunteer

To be a volunteer, you must love animals and be willing to make a minimal time commitment to the shelter each month.  People of all ages are invited to volunteer; however, children under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian's permission.

Interested persons should download the application form to the left.  Once you have completed it, you can drop it by the shelter or mail it to us.  You will then be contacted by our Volunteer Coordinator to attend an orientation class, which will familiarize you with our services, philosophies, policies and procedures.

If you have any questions about our volunteer program, please feel free to contact us.
